The deck was built based on the current meta and the matchups I could face. I tried to include several options to deal with control decks and go head-to-head against Vanquish Soul and Mitsurugi.
The number of interactions in the deck was conditioned by the amount of cards I’d have when going first or second, which is why I only ran 2 Ash Blossom and 1 Droll… I wanted to see more Imperms in my opening hand than the other techs. With the only 3-ofs in the deck being Imperms and Teleports, I developed a strategy to mislead my opponents into thinking I was playing Super Quantum before revealing the Maliss. However, the Super Quantum cards allow me to access my Maliss plays and even protect my normal summon with Number 75.
In the Semi-Finals, I ended up misplaying in games 2 and 3, mainly because I wasn’t that used to this new strategy. Watching the matches later, I realized I let the win slip away in both games — I could have gone for an easy OTK.
The idea is also to use Black Layer as a hand trap — I was running it at 3. But minutes before submitting the final decklist for the tournament, I decided it would be more impactful to include Shifter and one more Maliss trap, to push for OTKs and increase resilience against interactions. That change proved to be very strong, and I’ll keep refining this strategy as the new JUSH (Juhu) format unfolds.
If you have any questions about how to execute the combos or the best ways to deal with Mulcharmy and Lancea, feel free to comment — I’d be happy to help.
The core idea behind the deck is to have strong interactions without increasing my opponent’s draws, while still being able to push through Droll and Nibiru thanks to the Super Quantums.
